The use of AI-generated backgrounds has become increasingly common across Second life for photography and blogging. Restricting photos using these backgrounds from the gallery overlooks the economic impact it has on content creators as more produce these said backgrounds.
Even though AI assists in creating or enhancing backgrounds, it’s the user’s artistic direction that guides the result. AI doesn’t replace human creativity—it amplifies it.
AI integration in content creation isn’t a passing trend—it’s a technological evolution, much like the shift from film to digital photography. As more people adopt these tools for efficiency and innovation, disallowing AI backgrounds create an unfair disadvantage for those embracing progress responsibly.
Encouraging responsible disclosure—such as noting “AI-assisted” where relevant—can maintain transparency without restricting creativity of these backgrounds.
The gallery is where you are seen, where you find and can be found. If vendors can be seen here, why can't photographers using ai backgrounds?
I am not talking about AI photos, please note this is about the backgrounds only that we buy and support the makers of or even make ourselves - complete ai photos is for another discussion and I won't go down that road 😉
