When I right-click an image on the feed and open in new tab, it can be downloaded.

Tested this a few weeks apart, and it still sadly works. Is there a way to avoid this please? This opens Primfeed up to heavy copyright infringement and more food for the AI beast. Would it be a bug or a feature request?

AI beasts will simply render the page and grab the image directly. As long as an image gets transferred to client-side, there is no way to prevent someone from grabbing the image. After all, a browser needs to get the image data to show it on the page.

primerib1 Resident, thanks, in the meantime I fixed my naive view.

Luke Rowley, what does "open" mean please? I have brought up this issue before and it was gone from the list, like this one. Is there a possible solution on the horizon? :-)

As replied on your post: Long story short after my research tonight: Luke, you were very right and I was very wrong. My apologies, you already do what is possible on a social media platform, meaning that images get downsized to mini size on right click or direct download.
Other options are: Block right click website-wide, which is probably doing more harm to usability than good against theft. There are options to protect images from being distributed/reused, which look like these below on download, as thumbnails. Of course, everyone can use watermarks and signatures, but layers to protect - from what I read - can only be used on ones own/personal/corporate website, not on social media because of tons of different upload sources.
Example photos with layers on download to inhibit usage:
Code possibilities to block right clicking to open new tab:

Sorry again, Luke, please feel free to close/delete my bug report, I do not have the option anymore, perhaps because you and somebody else reacted to it. Thank you!
