Show 360° pics in a 360° mode

I realize that this may not be the easiest thing to implement, but it would be awesome if we could view the 360° images that we take in SL on Primfeed without having first to upload them to another service.

It would make sense to have this feature since we can take 360° images in (almost?) all viewers.

For future reference this is actually easier than it looks. The 360 photos SL takes are saved in equirectangular format and there are several existing solutions for displaying those.

One option is ThreeJS which has a working equirectangular demo on their website at https://threejs.org/examples/#webgl_panorama_equirectangular

I've made a quick and dirty modification to show that this works with SL 360 panoramas (drag to view, scroll to zoom): https://cshard.neocities.org/360/examples/webgl_equirectangular_demo

May need a little tweaking to accommodate image lens wrapping.

Not something I plan to do in 2025, but I might consider it in 2026, thank you!

I was just going to suggest this feature as well! It'd be nice to be able to post 360 snaps here, and have them viewed correctly.

i would use this feature. i currently upload to google photos and share a link to the 360° that way. to have that in Primfeed would be amazing.

I've been taking these panoramas for awhile and it'd be neat to be able to share them.

I also think it would be interesting to add existing functions in SL, with a 360º photo you could apply a limit of 2000x1000 (the same amount of pixels as if it were 1500x1500) and they would be with a quite acceptable quality.

    I think that be great

There are a few free to use libraries out there that can be used to allow it, and as SL added it, it be great for Primfeed to support it
