Improve Text Posts & Social Connections

I’d love to suggest a couple of improvements that could make Primfeed feel even more complete as a social platform, particularly when it comes to conversation, community building, and discovering people beyond visual content.

At the moment, Primfeed works incredibly well as a visual platform. Photos naturally receive a lot of visibility and engagement, while text-only posts can feel considerably less integrated into the overall feed experience. I think giving text posts more presence; whether through improved feed distribution, dedicated formatting, previews, or simply making them feel like a more native part of the platform could encourage more discussions, storytelling, announcements, roleplay-related content, and community interaction.

The second suggestion would be expanding the way users connect with one another.

Currently, following someone works very well for consuming their content, but there is a difference between following a creator and building a social connection. A system that allowed users to send a connection/friend request, or perhaps invite existing contacts from Second Life to connect on Primfeed, could make discovering and maintaining relationships much easier.

This could potentially include:

  • Better integration and visibility for text-only posts, so they can participate in the feed more naturally alongside photos.

  • A Connect / Add Friend system, separate from Following if desired.

  • The ability to invite existing Second Life contacts/friends to Primfeed.

  • Better tools for discovering people you already know in-world.

  • Continued development of private messaging, making Primfeed not only a place to publish content, but also somewhere communities can actually interact.

I don’t think Primfeed needs to become “Facebook for Second Life”; its visual identity is one of its strongest qualities. But adding stronger social-networking features on top of what already exists could bridge the gap between a photo-sharing platform and a true Second Life social network.

For communities, roleplay regions, event organizers, creators, clubs, and businesses, I think this could be particularly valuable because a large part of Second Life happens through conversation and relationships, not only through photography.

Primfeed already has the audience and the visual side of the experience. Strengthening the social layer could make people spend more time interacting inside Primfeed, rather than using it primarily as a gallery and then moving conversations elsewhere.

I agree that having more outlets for social interaction beyond likes, comments, and follows will help with building positive relationships and a more meaningful community. I am all for this!
