✒️⭐ Unlimited characters for Post ⭐✒️

Heya,
I would like to suggest, similar to what Flickr does, allowing us to write as much as we want in our posts. I am a photographer and I tell stories through my photos, often incorporating dialogues and lengthy texts. ✒️
This limit stifles the creativity of some creators who place particular importance on writing. 💭
Here is an example of the type of content I create, which I unfortunately could not share due to the character limit: https://gyazo.com/241f7966fa4d1efa69506e3874ec17a6 ⚛️
I find it unfortunate, because in my case, I likely won't be able to publish this type of content, given the current limitations, especially since I have much longer texts than this. Any limit will always be a hindrance for creatives who seek to bring their photos to life with writing and layout work. 😿
I hope my request will be considered so that there is not just one form of art (photography) available on your platform. Thanksy for reading ☮️

Heya,
I see several suggestions to simply increase the character limit.
I'd like to make it clear again that my suggestion is “unlimited text”. Not a character increase. ♾️
So yes, of course, I'd rather have a character increase than nothing at all. 💭
But I want to emphasize that my request is to lift the character limitation. ♾️
Feel free to propose ideas, but please don't lower the level of the request. ⏬
Because if the limitation is increased, but still insufficient for me, for example, I'll have to make the same request again. 🔂
They're listening, and I'd rather the request take the time to be made possible, if it is possible, than answer halfway and consider the request accomplished. ✅
With sympathy,
Kiana Kaslana ⭐

I agree, it should be unlimited. I was trying to be accommodating, but you are right.
But even a massive increase would not work for me unless it was really super massive (like 20K). I'm not even sure you can make a field in most databases that is limited to 20K characters.
In contrast, most databases have fields of datatype "text" or "varchar(MAX)" or similar that allow unlimited characters to be entered. We need one of those. :)

I'm not keen on this idea. My sense is that Primfeed was intended to be about images, primarily, not text. Primfeed's GUI appears to be similar to Xitter - inspired by it, at any rate. I don't think Primfeed needs to be held to as small a character limit as Xitter but I don't think 'unlimited' is a good idea either.

Rhiannon Tamerlane If we take a closer look, I find it more like Instagram than Twitter. 🧐
We can post just like on twitter, but most of the content I see on my feed is almost entirely photographic. 📷
I have reservations about this statement because what I see is not necessarily representative. ⚛️
As for the rest, in considering your opinion - because it's more of an opinion than an argument - I can't see any argument why having a character limit isn't a good idea. 💭
My position on the matter is that the best choice is to let users choose the length of their content, given that Second Life is an unlimited creative space. This is the very principle of the metaverse. ⚛️
It seems natural to me that the social network dedicated to it should not restrict the creativity of its users. ✒

KianaHoF Resident - You make a very good argument. As with you, my experience is coloured by what I see in my feed which of course will not be the same as yours.
And, just to be clear, "my sense of what Primfeed was intended to be" is me attempting to peer inside Luke Rowley's head. :)

Seconded. Or should that be thirded? Either way, I have the same issue. Even a mechanism that allowed posts to be linked together as a single thread (similar to how Twitter treats threads) would help

I'd like to add my support for this idea. I post chapter texts for my illustrated serial novel photos on Flickr. some of them are pretty lengthy. what we really need is an unlimited text field. probably a 'description' field that is separate from the 'subject' field, similar to what Flickr has.
as the original poster said, any character limit will hinder what I do, but a large limit would be better than what we have now. say 10,000 - 12,000 characters. here is an example: https://flic.kr/p/2q7j915 (SFW). the character count for this chapter is over 6000, and that is with me trying to keep my chapters relatively short.
could a chapter be over 10-12K? yes, easily. I am trying to shorten my chapters by breaking them up and putting more photos with each one, but that is just my personal decision. that is why an unlimited field would be best.
there are not a LOT of people in SL posting photos with story texts, but there are some. we would like better ways to use Primfeed, bc Primfeed rocks! :)
whether you make a new field or not, and whether the field we have is character-limited or not, the main thing I'd like to stress is that I cannot post any story text of any length here on Primfeed currently. I have to send viewers to my Flickr feed for them to see the chapter. this will forever limit my use of Primfeed, which I really like.
