Either by adding a "people you follow" filter to the public gallery, or by making the Home feed have two tabs (similar to profiles) where one tab shows only images.

I would add we need too the option to remove shares to the Discovery and Home tabs

I would like a tab separating posts from people and pages in this tab.

The home feed having a second tab with a gallery view (that ignores the posts that were not added to the public gallery so it only showns the "main" photography posts) like the profiles seems like a good idea. It would give a focus to photography which is what people wanted when moving here from flickr.
