Moderation

Today my post was moderated from General to Moderate. As far as I can tell the post fell within General guidelines. I’m not particularly upset about the moderation, it didn’t change much, but I sat there scratching my head as to why it was moderated.

Currently the change in moderation has a “reason” but that reason is often vague and doesn’t really explain why. For example, https://gyazo.com/a86be3a6fc5e2c5fed9db677e52b16d7

“Wrong Maturity Rating”

“The General rating is suitable for all ages. It may contain mild violence, mild language, and informational or educational content.

General content cannot be sexually explicit, violent, or depicts nudity nor show sexually oriented objects such as "sex beds" or poseballs.”

There is no nudity. The word “fuck” appears just once, on the shirt. A single use of the word “fuck”, using a real world standard, is enough to get a movie a PG-13 rating. That means it’s seen as suitable for anyone who is following SL’s TOS, as 13 is the absolute youngest user allowed by the service.

And while I disagree with the change to the rating of the post, my bigger concern is that none of this was even touched upon. “Wrong Maturity Rating.” That’s all I received. That’s all I was given to help me avoid such moderation in the future. I’m not worried about getting banned or removed over this, but I do want to keep things in the lines laid out. If we are going to be moderated, we need to be told why, and it needs to explain the logic behind it. If a moderator had said “Your shirt says ‘Fuck’ and the use of ‘Fuck’ is only allowed in Moderate or higher posts” I would’ve understood, even if I didn’t necessarily agree. But as it is, I am left grasping at straws. The one use of the word ‘Fuck’ may not have even been the reasoning. All I know is that it was the “Wrong Maturity Rating” and that’s really not helpful.
